Kampong Thom Police Enhance Public Service with New Station and 24-Hour Operations

In Kampong Thom province, northern Cambodia, efforts are underway to strengthen public service delivery to local communities. On July 17, 2026, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new Kampong Kho Police Station in Kampongsaライ District. The ceremony was attended by Police Commissioner Heng Sophal and other police officials, who reiterated the directive for 24-hour public service to residents. The new station will replace an old, cramped building. It will measure 11 meters by 9.5 meters, be constructed of brick, and feature four rooms equipped with modern facilities. This development is part of a nationwide initiative to modernize police facilities and enhance services, under the guidance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha and National Police Chief General Sar Thet. Police Commissioner Heng Sophal instructed officers to develop daily work plans, provide administrative services to citizens, conduct security patrols, and strengthen measures against online scams. He also emphasized the importance of promoting the "Village-Commune-District Safety Policy," fostering close cooperation with local residents, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment. This initiative represents a facet of the Cambodian government's ongoing efforts to improve access to administrative services in rural areas and enhance the safety and well-being of its citizens.
