Indonesian Migrant Workers to Japan Eligible for KUR PMI Loan Program

The Indonesian government has expanded the eligibility for its government-backed loan program, KUR PMI (Kredit Usaha Rakyat Pekerja Migran Indonesia), to include prospective Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) who wish to work in Japan. This measure aims to alleviate the financial burden for Indonesian workers planning to travel to Japan. The KUR PMI program was established to support citizens aspiring to work abroad, facilitating the payment of travel expenses, training costs, and other related expenditures. With this expanded eligibility, Indonesian workers, particularly those aiming for careers in Japan, will have access to financing options through this loan scheme. Japan is a significant destination for Indonesian labor, accepting workers in various sectors, notably through its Specified Skilled Worker program. This enhancement of the loan program could further facilitate labor mobility between the two countries.
