Cambodia Cracks Down on Online Scam Operations, Detains 46 Foreign Nationals

Cambodian police on the afternoon of July 30 raided two remote resort locations near the foothills of the mountains in Pailin province, detaining 46 foreign nationals, including 7 women, suspected of involvement in online scam activities. The operation was conducted under the direct command of Ms. Ban Sreymom, Governor of Pailin Province and Chair of the Provincial Administrative Command. The raids took place in two locations: one in Toul Khiev village, Pailin city, and another in Khlong village, Ou Tavav city, Pailin province. Specialized police forces discovered and seized a quantity of materials suspected of being used in the commission of crimes. This crackdown underscores the Cambodian government's firm policy and leadership, led by Prime Minister Hun Manet, in enforcing laws against online scamming.
