Tonle Sap Authority Holds Meeting on Gender Participation in Fisheries and Environmental Conservation

The Tonle Sap Authority held an awareness meeting on 'Gender Participation in Fisheries and Environmental Conservation' in the Tonle Sap Lake region, Kampong Tralach district, Kampong Chhnang province, on September 2, 2026. Ms. Tes Sovidavy, Deputy Director of the Department of Administration, Planning and Cooperation, led the Gender Working Group of the Tonle Sap Authority in this outreach activity. The meeting outlined five key objectives: first, to disseminate the importance of the Tonle Sap Lake's natural resources; second, to present a gender perspective and the right to participate in all social affairs, integrating GEDSI (Gender Equality, Diversity, and Social Inclusion) into fisheries and environmental conservation with equality and equity; third, to enhance community understanding of the role of women and social inclusion; fourth, to promote active participation from all stakeholders for effective fisheries and environmental resource management; and fifth, to raise awareness of the impacts of climate change and natural resources in the Tonle Sap Lake region. This initiative has contributed to raising awareness about gender equality, equity, women's rights, and social inclusion in the protection and management of natural resources, which are crucial for ensuring the sustainability of fisheries and the environment in the Tonle Sap Lake region.
