Vietnam Contributes to ASEAN Education Plan at Singapore Meeting

Vietnam participated in the 14th ASEAN Education Ministers’ Meeting (ASED 14) and related meetings held in Singapore, contributing to the formulation of the region's key upcoming action plan for education. At ASED 14, the ASEAN Education Work Plan 2026–2030 was officially launched, outlining the region’s shared priorities for building inclusive, comprehensive, and transformative education systems. The plan specifically focuses on nurturing resilient and well-rounded individuals, developing a highly skilled and competitive workforce, and strengthening a common ASEAN identity rooted in shared values. As a member of ASEAN, Vietnam actively engages in enhancing regional education standards and human resource development. It is believed that Vietnam shared its experiences and insights and participated in constructive discussions during the formulation of this action plan. Vietnam has recently positioned educational reform as a national priority and is advancing international cooperation. This action plan is likely to influence Vietnam's domestic education policies, further promoting the development of a higher quality educational environment. Discussions also covered the adoption of the Manila Plan of Action for 2026–2036 by the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) and the strengthening of ASEAN-EU cooperation. Vietnam advocates for substantive and sustainable ties between ASEAN and the EU, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in education. Furthermore, in ASEAN+3 (China, Japan, South Korea) cooperation, enhancing connectivity and resilience was strongly urged. These meetings demonstrate Vietnam's commitment to exercising leadership in the education sector regionally and internationally, advancing efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, strengthening a common ASEAN identity is a crucial element for deepening regional integration, aligning with Vietnam's foreign policy objectives.
