Woman Arrested for Alleged Mother-in-Law Murder and Decapitation in Phuket

PHUKET — A 36-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday morning in Phuket on suspicion of killing and decapitating her 74-year-old mother-in-law. The incident occurred at a home in the Chalong subdistrict of Mueang Phuket district. Chalong Police Station received the alert around 09:15. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the victim inside the residence with severe wounds inflicted by a bladed weapon. A significant amount of blood was present on the floor. Preliminary police investigations suggest a heated argument erupted between the victim and her 36-year-old daughter-in-law prior to the assault. Police allege the younger woman physically assaulted the victim, causing her to fall, before attacking her with a knife. The suspect is accused of repeatedly striking the victim and subsequently decapitating her. A neighbor who witnessed the altercation alerted the police. Officers apprehended the suspect, who was found hiding in a bathroom at the house, and took her into custody. She was later transferred to the police station for legal processing.
