Overseas Artists Amplify Vietnam's Soft Power Through Cultural Exchange

After more than two decades of implementing Politburo Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW, dated March 26, 2004, on overseas Vietnamese affairs, the Politburo adopted Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW on the same matter on August 2, 2026. The resolution ushers in a new phase with a more comprehensive approach, focusing on creating mechanisms to unlock and make effective use of the vast potential of the Vietnamese community abroad. Affirming that overseas Vietnamese are an integral part of the nation and partners in its development and creation, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium and Head of the Vietnamese Mission to the European Union (EU) Nguyen Huong Tra pledged to listen to them openly and responsibly, and convey their recommendations to authorities at home. Across Vietnam, localities are expanding cultural spaces, promoting creativity and linking heritage with tourism, helping translate the spirit of the Politburo's Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW on cultural development into practice. The increasing frequency of such visits indicates that Vietnam is receiving greater attention in the promotional and distribution strategies of Asian film projects. Teaching traditional dance and songs to children growing up overseas has never been easy. Differences in living environments and ways of thinking, together with pronunciation influenced by the local language, mean that the children need more time to grasp rhythms and pronounce Vietnamese correctly. These cultural exchanges are expected to enhance Vietnam's soft power and its influence in the international arena. Efforts are also being made to encourage the transmission of traditional culture among younger generations of overseas Vietnamese.
