Cambodia Holds Workshop on Gender-Responsive Social Protection Programs

Her Excellency Chea Phalkun, Honorary President of the Gender Working Group of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, presided over the opening of a workshop on "Gender-Responsive Social Protection Programs" on August 3, 2026. Her Excellency Chea Phalkun stated that the workshop was organized with four main objectives. First, to enhance, strengthen, and expand understanding of the national social protection policy framework, especially the gender-responsive social protection system. Second, to review and evaluate: discuss the strengths, challenges, and opportunities of social assistance programs currently being implemented to respond to the needs of women and target groups. Third, to strengthen individual capacities, self-confidence, empowerment, and initiative in performing the roles and duties of civil servants. Fourth, to promote a culture of sharing: encourage officials to dare to express opinions, make decisions, and share knowledge with colleagues for inclusive institutional development. Approximately 150 participants attended the workshop, including His Excellency, Her Excellency, leaders, directors-general, deputy directors-general, unit chiefs, members of the Gender Working Group, members of the Youth Union Working Group, and partner organizations.
