Repair and reconstruction works are underway for the government office buildings damaged by the Mandalay earthquake in Nay Pyi Taw. On Saturday, Chairman of the Buildings Restoration, Utilization, and New Buildings Construction Supervision Committee Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant inspected the work progress. Accompanied by deputy ministers, permanent secretaries and senior officials, the Union Minister visited the project sites, including the new Constitutional Tribunal building, the Supreme Court of the Union, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Union Minister stressed the importance of complying with the Myanmar National Building Code (MNBC-2025), ensuring high construction quality, meeting project deadlines, maintaining workplace safety and constructing buildings that are durable and resistant to future earthquakes. He also instructed officials to complete the projects as soon as possible so the buildings can be handed over for use by the respective ministries.
