Three ships carrying edible oil to arrive soon

Three ships carrying edible oil are expected to arrive at Yangon port soon, according to an official from the Myanmar Inspection and Testing Services Limited (MITS) under the Ministry of Commerce and Trade. The MITS official made this announcement during a coordination meeting with the Oil Tank Supervision Working Group of the Myanmar Oil Traders and Businesses Association held on July 9. The ships, AU GEMINI, SAMPOW PLAM, and Theresa II, are expected to arrive at Yangon's international ports carrying edible oil. On July 5, the MT. TIRTASI 6 arrived at KIPT port with 5,300 tons of edible oil and unloaded its cargo. On July 9, the MT. RM2 arrived at HOB port with 5,000 tons of edible oil, and by the morning of July 10, approximately 2,800 tons had been unloaded, according to reports. During the meeting, discussions were held on ensuring the systematic distribution of edible oil for consumers and industrial raw materials from oil tanks, maintaining continuous cleanliness of pipelines during oil transfer from ships to tanks, and submitting accurate daily oil balance statements within the stipulated time. According to the Edible Oil Import, Storage, and Distribution Business Supervision Committee, based on market and price developments in countries exporting palm oil produced abroad, the basic wholesale reference price for palm oil in Yangon from July 10 to 16 is 7,230 kyats per viss. In the Yangon retail market for palm oil, the prevailing price is around 16,000 kyats per viss, according to consumers.
