Muong Than (Lai Chau) Races Against Time in Search for Missing After Floods

In Muong Than, Lai Chau province, Vietnam, severe damage has been caused by landslides following several days of heavy rainfall. As of noon on July 18 (local time), four bodies have been recovered out of eight missing individuals. Currently, over 500 personnel, including police, military, militia, local government officials, and residents, are divided into multiple search teams. They are utilizing heavy machinery and specialized equipment to conduct a thorough search along stream beds, in areas with significant sediment accumulation, and at locations where victims are suspected to be trapped. The morning of July 18 saw the rain subside and water levels begin to recede in Muong Than. However, in the landscape ravaged by natural disaster, rescue teams and local residents are engaged in a race against time.
