Cambodia Enhances Support for Veterans and Retirees Through Administrative and Bereavement Fund Training
Cambodia's Association of Veterans and Retirees organized training on administration and bereavement fund management for leaders and officials from 13 districts. KAMPOT, July 8, 2026 – The Association of Veterans and Retirees of Cambodia organized a training course on administrative work and bereavement fund management on July 8, 2026, for leaders and officials responsible for these areas across all 13 districts in Kampot Province. The training was held at the Kampot Provincial Hall. The course aims to strengthen professional capacity, administrative procedures, and the management of the bereavement fund to ensure greater transparency, timeliness, and highly effective responses for the veteran and retiree members. Mr. Ou Sok, Deputy Secretary-General of the Association of Veterans and Retirees of Cambodia, stated that the association is a primary institution that plays a crucial role in caring for the well-being of veterans and retirees who have contributed to the nation. In response to technological advancements and the government's in-depth administrative reforms, administrative officers and bereavement fund officers are vital staff members who directly interact with the lives of veterans and retirees. Therefore, they must perform their duties with compassion, loyalty, and the highest sense of responsibility, facilitating administrative procedures for the disbursement of bereavement allowances without delay, to prevent difficulties for the bereaved families. They must enhance internal cooperation and solidarity between offices and relevant departments. In case of any challenges or irregularities, they must report to the leadership immediately for timely resolution. Veterans and retirees have made immense contributions to the nation, thus all administrative services must be provided with heart, sincerity, and high responsibility. Mrs. Hun Kosney, Vice President of the Secretariat of the Kampot Provincial Committee of the Association of Veterans and Retirees, stated that there are a total of 4,778 retirees (former civil servants) in Kampot Province, of whom 4,638 are retirees. During the first six months of 2026, the Association of Veterans and Retirees of Kampot Province disbursed bereavement fund payments to the families of 47 deceased members, totaling 188,000,000 Riel. This includes 136,000,000 Riel (equivalent to 34 cases) from Samdech Techo's additional financial support, and 52,000,000 Riel (13 cases) from the bereavement fund. To assist the living conditions of 50 families of former veterans who received land plots and houses in Ou Kakop village, Krang Lvea commune, Sangke Chey district, Kampong Chhnang Province, His Excellency Kuch Chamroeun, Governor of Kampot Province and President of the Association of Veterans and Retirees of Kampot Province, provided financial support of 75,000,000 Riel for hiring machinery for land leveling, road construction, and boundary demarcation. He also provided financial assistance of 1,000,000 Riel per family, totaling 50,000,000 Riel, along with numerous household items and food supplies.
