Battambang Province Governor Orders Intensified Crackdown on Drugs, Gangs, Gambling, and Illegal Fishing

Battambang Province Governor Sok Lu has instructed provincial authorities and law enforcement agencies to further intensify crackdowns on drugs, juvenile gangs, gambling, illegal fishing, and all other types of criminal activities. The governor also urged for accelerated traffic management in Battambang city to reduce congestion and stricter enforcement of traffic laws to decrease road accidents. These directives were conveyed during a monthly meeting of the provincial administration's unified command committee held on September 11, 2026, at the Battambang Provincial Hall. Governor Sok Lu reiterated the call for municipal and district authorities to continue maintaining public order, eliminate disorderly constructions, and prohibit the building of permanent structures that encroach on public land. Furthermore, he emphasized the promotion of the 'one house, one tree' campaign, urging for increased tree planting in populated areas to enhance green environments and aesthetics, along with diligent care for existing planted trees. Ministries, departments, and districts were also tasked with combating fake news by sharing accurate, government-sourced information and responding swiftly to counter disinformation that pollutes society. Governor Sok Lu also encouraged municipal and district authorities to actively promote vocational training among youth, particularly those from impoverished or at-risk families. The aim is to equip them with solid skills, leading to decent employment and higher incomes.
