Cambodia's SDF Promotes Skills Development for Informal Economy Workers

The Skills Development Fund (SDF) of Cambodia on the afternoon of September 2, in Siem Reap province, participated in the "Campaign to Promote Informal Economy Development, Professional Skills Development, and Strengthening Service Quality in the Tourism Sector." The event was attended by approximately 3,000 participants, including representatives from ministries, sub-national administrations, tourism industry associations, and training institutions. This campaign is organized with the objective of encouraging informal economy workers to register on the Cam-IE digital platform to receive official recognition and digital certificates. It also aims to strengthen professional, business, and digital skills through SDF's "Skills Voucher Program" and "Informal Economy Support Program." This initiative prepares them to participate in the formal economy and contribute to enhancing the quality standards of Cambodian tourism services at both national and ASEAN regional levels. During the event, Mr. Ki Sokkheam, Executive Director of SDF, emphasized that informal economy workers are crucial drivers of national economic growth and job creation. He stated that this campaign is a key step in line with the "National Strategy for Informal Economy Development 2023-2028," aiming to develop their capacities, enabling them to embrace technology, innovation, and business expansion opportunities for stronger enterprises. Through the support and attention of the Royal Government, SDF has actively contributed to developing and building the capacity of staff and entrepreneurs at all levels, successfully supporting the training of 101,544 trainees. Among them, 47,501 informal economy workers received training through the "Skills Voucher Program" and "Informal Economy Support Program" in priority skills such as digital technology, digital marketing, business management, hospitality, and food hygiene and safety, among others. Moving forward, SDF will continue to strengthen and expand its collaboration with relevant partners, especially the Ministry of Tourism, provincial administrations, various industry associations, and training institutions.
