Central Vietnam Flooded: Hundreds of Households Submerged, Transport Cut Off by Heavy Rains

Heavy and prolonged rainfall in Vietnam's central Thanh Hoa province has caused the Buoi River to swell, resulting in flooding that has affected hundreds of households in several areas. Specifically, in the communes of Thanh Vinh, Kim Tan, and Thach Binh, homes have been submerged, and many areas have experienced transportation disruptions, leading to isolation. Residents have been forced to evacuate, significantly impacting their daily lives. According to the Vietnam Meteorological Agency, heavy rains are expected to continue in the North Central region. Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces, in particular, face a heightened risk of flash floods and landslides. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation in the affected areas, expediting emergency response, and reinforcing warnings to residents. Efforts are also underway to quickly restore damaged roads. In recent years, Vietnam has seen an increasing trend of natural disasters attributed to extreme weather events, believed to be influenced by climate change. The government is prioritizing the strengthening of disaster prevention measures.
