Jakarta Leads National Investment Realization in H1 2026
Jakarta emerged as Indonesia's top investment destination in the first half of 2026, realizing IDR 173.6 trillion in investments, accounting for 17.2% of the national total. This achievement underscores strong investor confidence and the effectiveness of the provincial government's pro-investment policies.
Jakarta has once again solidified its position as Indonesia's leading investment destination in the first semester of 2026, with investment realization reaching IDR 173.6 trillion. This figure represents 17.2 percent of the total national investment. The realization comprises IDR 106.5 trillion from Domestic Capital Investment (PMDN) and IDR 67.1 trillion from Foreign Capital Investment (PMA). Heru Hermawanto, Head of the DKI Jakarta Investment and One-Stop Service Agency (DPMPTSP), stated that this high investment realization demonstrates the continued strong investor confidence in Jakarta's business climate. "This achievement shows that Jakarta remains the main destination for investment in Indonesia. The increasing investor confidence is the result of the synergy of various parties in creating a conducive business climate, supported by the policy direction of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Pramono, who places investment ease and public services as a priority for development," Heru said in a statement on Friday, August 7. According to Heru, the DKI Jakarta DPMPTSP continues to encourage various strategies to maintain Jakarta's position as the largest investment destination. These include optimizing the Public Service Mall (MPP), accelerating the digitization of licensing and non-licensing services, and providing integrated investment assistance. Furthermore, the DKI Provincial Government has strengthened data-based investment promotion through the preparation of investment potential maps and the development of Investment Project Ready to Offer (IPRO) projects. "We ensure that the investment opportunities offered have been prepared in terms of technical, financial, and market aspects, thus providing investors with better certainty in making investment decisions in Jakarta," Heru added. Regionally, South Jakarta remains the favorite location for investors, with an investment realization of IDR 62.7 trillion. Central Jakarta follows with IDR 49.9 trillion, North Jakarta with IDR 23.1 trillion, West Jakarta with IDR 20.6 trillion, and East Jakarta with IDR 17.1 trillion. The Thousand Islands Administrative District recorded an investment realization of IDR 289 billion. The transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications sectors contributed the largest share of investment, amounting to IDR 54.3 trillion, or 31 percent of the total investment. Other service sectors followed with IDR 43.6 trillion (25 percent), and trade and repairs with IDR 28.4 trillion (16 percent). Heru assessed that the dominance of these sectors reflects the high interest of investors in fields that support connectivity, trade, and services as the main drivers of the Jakarta economy. "The investment that comes in not only encourages economic growth but also opens up employment, increases productivity, and creates prosperity for the community," said Heru. Meanwhile, Ezrin Kartika, Head of the Jakarta Investment Center Management Unit (UP JIC), stated that the investment realization in Semester I 2026 managed to absorb more than 289,000 workers. This number consists of over 220,000 workers from SMEs and around 78,000 workers from PMA. "The success of investment is not only measured by the number of projects that have been or have been successfully built, but also by its economic impact. Investment creates jobs, increases business activity, and encourages economic growth," explained Ezrin. According to Ezrin, the high absorption of labor shows that investment in Jakarta not only brings capital but also opens up job opportunities in various business sectors.
