Vietnam and the Philippines are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations (1976-2026). On this occasion, Vietnamese General Secretary and President To Lam, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and Standing Committee member Tran Cam Tu sent congratulatory letters to Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., Speaker of the House of Representatives Faustino G. Dy III, Senate President Sherwin T. Gatchalian, and Secretary-General of the Philippines' Partido Federal Rodolfo T. Albano III. Furthermore, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung extended his congratulations to Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Theresa Lazaro. These mutual congratulatory messages signify the deepening friendly relations and strategic partnership between the two countries in the Southeast Asian region. Vietnam, under its one-party system, continues to pursue economic growth, and strengthening ties with neighboring countries is crucial for expanding its regional influence and maintaining stability. Particularly, amidst issues such as those in the South China Sea, relations with the Philippines hold a significant position in Vietnam's foreign policy.
