Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Session: 5th day of 2nd regular session of 3rd Pyidaungsu Hluttaw held

The fifth day of the Second Regular Session of the Third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw was held at 10:00 a.m. today, July 2, at the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Hall in Nay Pyi Taw. Of the 560 Hluttaw representatives entitled to attend, 552 were present. According to the agenda, U Hla Thein, representative of Bago Region Constituency No. (10), explained to the Hluttaw matters relating to the formation of the Joint Coordinating Committee on Hluttaw Development (JCC). Subsequently, the Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw presented to the Hluttaw the list of 16 members of the Joint Coordinating Committee on Hluttaw Development (JCC), including U Maung Maung Ohn as Chairman, U Hla Thein (Bago Region Constituency No. 10) as Vice Chairman, and U Zaw Hein, Permanent Secretary of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, as Secretary. The Speaker also announced that any Hluttaw representatives wishing to discuss the matter could submit their names. The Hluttaw then proceeded to discuss the agreement signed between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Republic of Belarus on the Avoidance of Double Taxation on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion, together with the issue of sending Myanmar’s notification letter to Belarus, as forwarded by the President. Discussions were made by Dr. Kyaw Swe (Taungdwingyi Constituency), U Aung Kyaw Thu (Mahlaing Constituency), Daw Myint Sandar Aung (Myaungmya Constituency), and Dr. Hla Tint (Bahan Constituency). Afterwards, Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Han Win Aung gave clarifications and explanations, and the Hluttaw approved the matter. Next, regarding the request forwarded by the President to extend for one additional month the exemption from Special Goods Tax and Commercial Tax on HSD diesel (500 ppm), and to grant a one-month exemption from Commercial Tax on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Dr. Kyaw Swe of Taungdwingyi Constituency discussed the matter. Deputy Minister U Han Win Aung then provided further explanations, after which the Hluttaw sought the decision of the assembly. Following this, the meeting was temporarily adjourned, it’s reported.
