Indonesia Has Strong Foundation for RWA Tokenization: Minister

Indonesia possesses a strong foundation for promoting the tokenization of Real World Assets (RWAs), according to insights from the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas). Bappenas is currently formulating strategies to maximize the potential in this sector, which holds the promise of accelerating Indonesia's digital economic growth. Febryanoe Widjaja, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Affairs at Bappenas, highlighted the benefits that RWA tokenization could bring to the Indonesian economy. He pointed out that tokenization can enhance asset liquidity and provide access to a broader investor base. This is expected to stimulate investment in diverse assets such as real estate, infrastructure projects, and even intellectual property rights. Indonesia is well-positioned to promote RWA tokenization, supported by its rapidly expanding digital economy and growing interest in blockchain technology. The government plans to support the adoption of this new financial technology through the development of regulations and infrastructure investment. In particular, it is anticipated that this will lead to the revitalization of regional economies and increased financing opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.
