AI Summary

Vietnam's wealth management sector is witnessing expansion as financial institutions launch new solutions to meet the growing demand for intergenerational asset management, preservation, and transfer among its affluent population.

Techcombank is set to launch a new wealth management solution, Techcom Wealth, at its Investment Conference on September 19. The bank will focus on discussions regarding the governance, preservation, and intergenerational transfer of assets. According to The Wealth Report 2026 by Knight Frank, Vietnam currently has approximately 1,233 individuals with a net worth exceeding $30 million USD. This number is projected to increase by 59% to nearly 1,960 by 2031. McKinsey forecasts that Vietnam's total personal financial assets could reach around $600 billion USD by 2027, nearly doubling from 2022. The total assets of the ultra-high-net-worth (UHNWI) segment alone are expected to hit approximately $790 billion USD by 2031, creating an estimated $65 to $75 billion USD in new managed assets for the wealth management industry. A Techcombank representative stated that while the focus previously was on wealth creation and accumulation, it is now shifting towards governance, preservation, and the transfer of value across generations. This trend is becoming more pronounced as the post-Doi Moi (Renovation) generation of entrepreneurs begins preparing for succession. Furthermore, the asset structures of wealthy clients are becoming increasingly complex, involving businesses operating in multiple markets, real estate, domestic and international investment portfolios, and private investments. The scale and diversity of these assets necessitate higher standards for resource allocation, inheritance planning, and family governance. Concurrently, a new generation of asset owners is emerging, including tech founders, entrepreneurs expanding internationally, and young leaders taking over family businesses. This group approaches investment and management with a fresh perspective and is keen on continuing the development of values established by previous generations. These trends are driving financial institutions to expand from traditional wealth management to more comprehensive wealth governance models that integrate investment, asset preservation, and intergenerational transfer. In response to these changes, the Techcombank Investment Conference 2026, themed "Prosperous Vietnam: Creating and Empowering Value Across Generations," will convene business leaders, investors, economic experts, and the bank's Private Banking clients. Discussion sessions will concentrate on Vietnam's growth prospects and the challenges of asset governance, preservation, and intergenerational transfer. The program will feature asset governance and Private Banking experts from Asia and Vietnamese entrepreneurs sharing international experiences and approaches suitable for the domestic market. Techcombank aims to connect lessons learned from developed markets with the practical needs of large asset-holding families in Vietnam. At the event, Techcombank is also expected to introduce Techcom Wealth, a wealth management service for Private clients. Beyond focusing on investment or asset preservation, Techcom Wealth aims to provide clients with a more holistic approach to wealth governance, nurturing successors, creating new value on the foundation of existing heritage, and transmitting values across generations. Techcom Wealth Visa Infinite Private will also be unveiled as part of the service ecosystem for Private clients. Techcombank representatives noted that the expansion of wealth management services is intended to meet the increasingly diverse needs of high-net-worth clients as the market enters a phase of generational transition.
