Cambodia Fuel Prices Rise Again Amid Government Subsidies

Cambodia will see a further increase in fuel retail prices from 1 PM on July 28, 2026, until August 4, 2026. According to an announcement from the Ministry of Commerce, regular gasoline will rise by 150 riels to 4,450 riels per liter, while diesel will increase by 300 riels to 5,250 riels per liter. This price hike is attributed to the surge in international fuel prices. With gasoline prices exceeding $90 per barrel and diesel surpassing $100 per barrel on the global market, these increases are being reflected in domestic retail prices. To alleviate the burden on citizens' livelihoods, the government will continue to provide a subsidy of $0.065 per liter. Additionally, a further $0.01 per liter subsidy is being considered to offset a portion of the rising international costs. Despite these government measures, the latest fuel price increase is likely to place additional strain on Cambodian households, many of whom are already grappling with inflationary pressures. The impact is expected to be particularly pronounced in rural areas where transportation costs constitute a significant portion of living expenses.
