Ayeyarwaddy Times, September 6 A robbery occurred in Chanayethazan Township, Mandalay, where a gold necklace was stolen from the wife of a deputy police chief under the government, who was making alms in front of her house in the morning. The wife of the deputy police chief was robbed of her gold necklace, weighing approximately three ticals (about 18 grams), by an individual waiting on a motorcycle when she was entering her house after making alms around 7 AM on September 5, the previous day, on Street 30, between 67th and 68th Streets in Chanayethazan Township. The perpetrator then fled. A resident living near the scene told Ayeyarwaddy Times, "I was robbed as I was entering the house after making alms. It seems they waited for the opportune moment when the streets were empty during the early morning alms-making time." It is known that a case has been filed at the No. 3 Police Station regarding this gold necklace robbery incident, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrator. According to local residents, theft and robbery incidents are occurring consecutively in Chanayethazan Township, and even motorcycles and bicycles belonging to police officers and government officials are being stolen.
