16th European–Vietnam Documentary Film Festival Opens in Hanoi

Opened at the Vietnam National Cinema Centre in Hanoi on December 12 evening, the event drew strong interest as tickets sold out quickly after going on sale on December 8. This year’s festival will offer audiences the chance to discover seven outstanding documentaries from seven foreign countries, along with 11 works from host Vietnam. Themed “DANAFF – Bridging Asia”, the festival aims to honour outstanding cinematic works with rich humanistic value, fresh perspectives, and unique artistic expression. It also seeks to connect and nurture emerging talent in Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region. Under its single-party system, Vietnam continues to pursue economic growth while also focusing on cultural exchange and international cooperation. This film festival serves as an opportunity to deepen relations with the international community through culture and to discover and foster Vietnamese artistic talent. The theme, emphasizing a bridge between Asia and Europe, reflects Vietnam's ambition to enhance its presence on the global stage. In recent years, alongside economic development, Vietnam has also been investing in the preservation of its cultural heritage and the promotion of contemporary arts.
