Clash in Central Jakarta Leaves One Dead

A violent clash between groups occurred on Jalan Tambak, Menteng, Central Jakarta, early Sunday morning (26/7), resulting in one fatality and one person critically injured. According to AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit, reports from residents indicated the clash began around 10:00 AM Western Indonesian Time. He explained that the altercation was triggered by a dispute involving a group member who felt inadequately served while attempting to purchase breakfast. "So, a group from the side that was attacked came to buy breakfast, and perhaps they were not served well or were displeased, leading them to rev their vehicles," he told reporters. Following this, the individual reportedly returned to the scene with friends and proceeded to vandalize the food stall. "Then, in response to the destruction of the sales location, residents from the surrounding area attacked the group's location, leading to the disturbance," he stated. As a result of the confrontation, two victims were evacuated to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital (RSCM). Roby confirmed that one individual was in critical condition, while the other could not be saved and succumbed to their injuries. "The latest information from the two individuals secured at the crime scene is that they were both in critical condition when brought in, but one had already passed away at the hospital," he clarified.
