Kampong Speu Province Distributes New Home and Aid to Vulnerable Residents

Kampong Speu Provincial Governor and Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Branch, H.E. Dr. Cham Chansophann, along with members of the branch committee and heads of provincial departments, presided over a ceremony on September 1, 2026, to hand over one newly constructed house and distribute aid to 25 vulnerable households, former soldiers, and veterans in Vale Thom village, Yeay Mao Petch Nil commune, Phnom Sruoch district, Kampong Speu province. The donations were provided by the Kampong Speu Provincial Red Cross Branch. During the event, Phnom Sruoch District Governor, Mr. Oum Samoeun, delivered a welcoming report, highlighting the general situation and living conditions of the residents in the locality. He also emphasized the local authorities' diligent efforts in surveying and identifying vulnerable families and former soldiers to ensure they receive timely humanitarian assistance. Speaking at the ceremony, H.E. Dr. Cham Chansophann informed attendees about the potential and development across all sectors in Kampong Speu province. He conveyed the deep regards and concern from H.E. Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, who consistently pays close attention to the well-being of citizens nationwide, ensuring no one suffers from starvation or neglect. Dr. Cham Chansophann encouraged residents to maintain close contact with local authorities, particularly the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, to obtain high-quality seeds for farming, aiming for high yields that meet market demands. He further noted the rapid development in Phnom Sruoch district, with numerous factories and enterprises operating, creating abundant job opportunities for citizens and youth to increase their income and improve their family's living standards. Dr. Cham Chansophann stated that while the humanitarian aid provided may not fully meet all needs, it significantly contributes to alleviating immediate hardships and addressing shortages. He also urged all levels of local authorities to continue to pay close attention to and monitor the living conditions of the people, especially former soldiers who have sacrificed and struggled, in line with the Cambodian government's policy of high regard for its citizens, and to report regularly to the provincial administration. The aid distributed included 100 kg of rice, 4 boxes of instant noodles, 40 cans of sardine, 2 sets of fish sauce and soy sauce, 4 bottles of cooking oil, 1 kitchenware set, 1 pot, 1 pillow, 1 water bucket, and 40,000 Riel for the family receiving the house. Each of the other vulnerable households, former soldiers, and veterans received 25 kg of rice, 1 box of instant noodles, 1 set of sardine, 1 set of fish sauce and soy sauce, 1 bottle of cooking oil, and 20,000 Riel.
