Indonesian House Opens for 2026 Asian Games to Support Athletes and Serve as Diplomatic Hub
Indonesia has opened an "Indonesian House" in Japan to support its contingent during the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. The facility aims to provide emotional support to athletes and serve as a diplomatic platform to showcase Indonesian culture and tourism internationally.
The Indonesian House, which was presented to support the smooth participation of the Indonesian Contingent during the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, was officially opened on Saturday. The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) to Japan Nurmala Kartini P. Sjahrir who was present at the opening of the Indonesian House said that the existence of the Indonesian House is not only a supporting facility for the activities of athletes, but also has diplomatic value. "The Indonesian House shows that the country is together with the athletes. We also try to provide emotional support, a sense of togetherness. The Indonesian House is also the Motherland House. It is a symbol of our country so that it is expected to provide comfort and ease for athletes," added Ambassador Kartini. Meanwhile, the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir when inaugurating the Indonesian House together with the Chairman of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Raja Sapta Oktohari and the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Team Todotua Pasaribu said that the Indonesian House was initially designed as a place for athletes to get support during their struggle in the Asian Games. "Alhamdulillah I feel that this Indonesian House is a platform that continues to grow. Initially we discussed how this Indonesian House would become a home for our athletes, the Indonesian House would also be a means of diplomacy. Indonesia not only introduces culinary, but also shows the richness of Indonesian culture, nature, and tourism to the international community," explained the Minister of Youth and Sports. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee, Raja Sapta Oktohari, said that the Indonesian House, which was officially opened today (Saturday), could be a warm place for athletes, officials and other guests. The Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Team, Todotua Pasaribu, said preparations to attend the Opening Ceremony of the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 had also been carried out. The Indonesian contingent will take part in the defile involving around 100 people consisting of the CdM team and athletes. In the defile, Indonesia will also display cultural elements through clothing that carries the identity of the nation. Meanwhile, for the bearer of the Red and White flag, Indonesia has appointed basketball athlete Dewa Ayu Made Sriartha Kusuma Dewi and Karateka Daniel Hutapea.
