Vietnam Railways Ensures Safe National Day Travel, Opens Tet 2027 Ticket Sales

Vietnam Railways (Đường sắt Việt Nam) has announced the successful and safe transportation of passengers during the recent National Day holiday, catering to increased travel demand. During this period, the railway system served over 219,264 passengers, representing a 114% increase compared to the same period last year. The National Day holiday this year spanned five days, leading to a significant surge in travel for home visits and tourism. In response, Vietnam Railways proactively developed a transportation plan, augmenting operational capacity on key routes to meet public travel needs. In addition to regular passenger train services, Vietnam Railways added four "Thống Nhất" (North-South) express trains and 33 sectional trains. Most trains were configured with the maximum permissible number of carriages to enhance passenger capacity during peak days. Notably, a new tourist train service, "Cố đô Huế - Phong Nha: Hành trình di sản Thế giới" (Hue Ancient Capital - Phong Nha: World Heritage Journey), was launched during this holiday, diversifying rail transport and tourism products to cater to the sightseeing and experiential demands of locals and tourists. To ensure smooth and safe operations during this high-demand period, the Vietnam Railways Group directed its units to increase staffing, maintain a 24-hour readiness, and strictly enforce train operation safety checks. Thanks to early planning and implementation, railway transport operated stably throughout the holiday, with no traffic accidents or incidents, ensuring the safety of passengers and staff. Following the National Day operations, Vietnam Railways is now focusing its resources on preparing for the 2027 Đinh Mùi Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday travel rush. The first phase of Tet ticket sales, designated for organizations and groups that registered in advance, has been completed. From 8:00 AM on September 5, Vietnam Railways will officially open general sales for individual passengers through its official channels, including online and direct sales. To protect passenger rights and limit ticket scalping and bulk purchasing, Vietnam Railways is implementing controls on the number of tickets per transaction. Each customer will be limited to purchasing a maximum of 10 tickets for a single direction in one transaction, whether online or in person. This phased ticket sales approach aims to proactively allocate tickets, facilitate convenient access for the public, and curb speculation during the peak season. With its early preparations, Vietnam Railways aims to effectively meet the travel demands of the public during the 2027 Đinh Mùi Tet, particularly on the North-South corridor and the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route, thereby ensuring safe and convenient transportation during the year-end peak and Tet holidays.
