Banteay Meanchey Red Cross Strengthens Volunteer Capacity in "Clean Water and Environment" for Refugee Camp Well-being

Banteay Meanchey, Cambodia – July 14, 2026 – In a move to enhance public health and the quality of life for citizens in vulnerable areas, the Cambodian Red Cross, Banteay Meanchey Provincial Branch, has launched a training course on "Clean Water and Environment" for its volunteers. The training is being conducted within the refugee camp located in Rung Cham village, Slakram commune, Svay Chek district. The opening ceremony for this training course took place on the morning of July 14, 2026, under the auspices of Mr. Hil Raya, Deputy Governor of Banteay Meanchey Province. During the event, Mr. Hil Raya underscored the paramount importance of this training, stating that the work on clean water and environmental hygiene is a critical foundation for preventing and controlling various diseases caused by poor sanitation, especially for the residents living in refugee camps. The Deputy Governor sternly advised all Red Cross volunteers, "Volunteers must strive to absorb this new knowledge in depth, as it will become a sharp weapon for implementing humanitarian work for the local population with high efficiency and creativity." It is worth noting that this training course will run for three days, from July 14 to July 16, 2026. Through this program, Red Cross volunteers are expected to gain full capacity to disseminate information and guide residents in the camp on practicing clean living, consuming safe water, and maintaining a healthy and safe environment on a regular basis.
