An Giang Province Approves Establishment of 22 New Wards, Advancing Administrative Restructuring

An Giang Province in southern Vietnam has taken a significant step towards administrative restructuring. On September 22, during the 6th extraordinary session of the 11th An Giang Provincial People's Council, a resolution was officially passed to establish 22 new wards (phường) under the province's jurisdiction. This administrative reorganization aims to further promote the socio-economic development of An Giang Province. Under Vietnam's one-party system, changes in administrative divisions by local governments, with approval from the central authorities, serve as crucial means to establish efficient governance tailored to local realities. Especially as Vietnam continues its economic growth, optimizing administrative divisions is an ongoing process to accommodate urbanization and population increase. The adoption of this resolution indicates An Giang Province's emphasis on strengthening its administrative foundation to foster socio-economic development. The province is also actively engaged in enhancing moral education and lifestyles, and preventing violence among students, demonstrating a commitment to nurturing the next generation. Furthermore, it recognizes September 10, 1945, as the traditional day of An Giang Province's armed forces, highlighting the importance of historical and cultural aspects. Additionally, An Giang Province inaugurated three boarding schools along the border concurrently with the start of the new academic year. This initiative aims to equalize educational opportunities in border areas, aligning with the Vietnamese government's development goal of 'leaving no one behind.' The province also passed 18 resolutions to drive socio-economic development, indicating a multifaceted approach to regional progress.
