Phnom Penh Police Chief Orders Enhanced Crime Prevention and Suppression

Phnom Penh Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Chuon Narinth, who also serves as Deputy Commissioner General of the National Police, issued a directive on September 9, 2026, to strengthen security and public order within the capital. He instructed police officers to proactively prevent and promptly suppress crimes to ensure the safety and security of citizens. During a joint inspection and meeting with intervention forces and the command police unit of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Headquarters, Lieutenant General Chuon Narinth emphasized that maintaining security and public order in the jurisdiction is a top priority. He urged the intervention forces to diligently carry out their duties, including maintaining 24-hour readiness and conducting patrols, with a particular focus on timely crime prevention and suppression. To boost morale, the Commissioner provided support by arranging for uniform measurements and provision for the command police unit (94 officers) and the intervention unit (84 officers).
