Father and son among 5 held after man stabbed at Nonthaburi petrol station

NONTHABURI — Police have detained five people, including a father and his teenage son, in connection with a brutal stabbing incident at a petrol station in Pak Kret district on Wednesday night. A 24-year-old man was found with six knife wounds. The injured man, identified only as Sitthichok, was discovered at the station in Ban Mai subdistrict around 8 p.m. on September 10. He sustained stab wounds to his back, waist, and arms, and was in serious condition when rushed to Chollaprathan Hospital in Pak Kret. Initially, police apprehended a 42-year-old station worker, identified as Wichet, and his 16-year-old son, Bas. Officers also seized a short knife and a folding knife from the scene. Three other individuals, identified as Aphisit, 24; Chaiwat, 21; and a 16-year-old named Pop, were later detained. All five are currently being questioned. According to police statements, the five detainees claim that Sitthichok had visited the petrol station twice on the night of the incident, and was armed with a knife during the second encounter. Police have not yet confirmed the exact sequence of events, announced formal charges, or released Sitthichok's account of the incident. Wichet, the father, told police that Sitthichok had first arrived at the station on a motorcycle to see his girlfriend, who is employed there. Wichet alleged that Sitthichok appeared intoxicated, initiated an argument, and then left. Wichet stated he then called his son. According to Wichet's account, Sitthichok later returned with a knife and chased him. His son, Bas, arrived at the station while bringing food for his father and became involved after witnessing the altercation. Wichet recounted that an argument ensued before knives were used. He believes the short knife was likely brought by his son from home. Bas, the son, told police that his father had called him saying he was being chased and attacked with a knife. Bas said he had asked friends to accompany him, but they did not find the other party and he returned home. Later, he said, he rode back to the station to bring food to his father and saw him being chased and attacked with a knife. "Out of anger, I used the knife I was carrying to chase and stab the injured man," Bas told police, according to the report. Bas claimed he did not know Sitthichok and had never had a dispute with him, nor did he know if Sitthichok had any prior conflict with his father. Aphisit, who identified himself as a colleague of Wichet, corroborated parts of the father's account. He told police that Sitthichok had earlier arrived at the station looking for trouble, leading to an argument before he departed. Aphisit alleged that Sitthichok later returned and slashed Wichet on the cheek with a knife. Aphisit said Bas arrived shortly thereafter, saw his father injured, and then chased Sitthichok with a knife. Aphisit also stated he did not know Sitthichok and had no previous dispute with him. He alleged that Sitthichok had arrived aggressively on his motorcycle, revving its engine loudly, but could not confirm if the victim was intoxicated.
