King's Message to the Nation on the Occasion of Pchum Ben Festival

His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni has issued a message to the Cambodian people on the occasion of the traditional Kanh Chhngay and Pchum Ben festivals. The message was released during the festival period, which runs from September 27 to October 11, 2026. The King stated that this festival is one of the most significant traditional events for Cambodians, providing an annual opportunity for citizens, both at home and abroad, to return to their hometowns, reunite with family and friends, and participate in traditional ceremonies at pagodas and homes. He further emphasized that the festival is a crucial time for expressing gratitude (Katanhuta Thom) to parents, ancestors, and deceased relatives. His Majesty praised the spirit of solidarity and cooperation demonstrated by the people, as well as their efforts to protect and pass on the nation's rich traditional culture to future generations. The King urged the public to use this festival as an occasion to further protect and promote the country's traditions, customs, and cultural heritage, thereby strengthening national unity, peace, and social stability.
