Vietnam, Indonesia Seek to Expand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Vietnam and Indonesia are looking to expand their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with both nations expressing a desire to strengthen cooperation across various sectors including aviation, automotive, and cultural exchange. Vietnam Airlines is actively showcasing its products and services in the Indonesian market, promoting Vietnamese destinations to Indonesian consumers. This initiative is expected to foster people-to-people exchanges and boost tourism between the two countries. In the automotive sector, Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has identified Indonesia as a key pillar of its global growth strategy. Since entering the market, VinFast has rapidly expanded its product portfolio, commenced operations at its manufacturing facility, and built a comprehensive EV ecosystem through a growing network of strategic partners. Culturally, a Vietnam-Indonesia friendship cultural exchange program was held in Ho Chi Minh City, highlighting the close friendship between the people of both nations. This exemplifies the importance of intra-ASEAN cooperation. Beyond its immediate ASEAN neighbors, Vietnam is also seeking to strengthen ties with a wide range of countries, including Thailand, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Burundi, Mexico, and China. Notably, Vietnam has called on China to facilitate its agricultural exports, deepen quarantine cooperation, and soon sign a memorandum of understanding designating Vietnam as the featured country for the 'Shared Big Market: Export to China Series Activities' in 2027. Domestically, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam sent a congratulatory message to the Mexican President on the occasion of Mexico's Independence Day. Furthermore, the Vietnamese Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defence expressed their hope to work with their Chinese counterparts to maintain, develop, and strengthen agreed-upon areas of cooperation, effectively sustain existing cooperation mechanisms, and foster increasingly substantive ties. National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man proposed maintaining regular exchanges at all levels between the legislatures, including among their committees, young parliamentarians, women parliamentarians, and friendship parliamentarians, to share experiences. This reflects Vietnam's broader diplomatic efforts on the international stage. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the Party Statutes are expected to inherit principles proven by history and practice, establishing a framework for the Party's organization and operation to meet the requirements of a ruling party leading the country in a new stage of development.
