Military junta drops over 40 bombs using two aircraft in Magway’s Saw Township

The Myanmar military junta used two aircraft to drop more than 40 bombs on a location in Saw Township, Gangaw District, Magway Region, according to local sources. Yaw Alin Tan, a local news outlet, reported that the airstrikes occurred on 27 July. A jet fighter from Magway Air Base launched an attack around 11:44 AM, followed by a Y-12 transport aircraft from Ela Air Base dropping bombs between 12:47 PM and 1:40 PM. “Casualties and damages cannot be confirmed yet as phone lines are down, and local residents have fled,” a representative from Yaw Alin Tan said. The junta also arrested and took away two women from Gyi village in Kyaukhtu Township, Yaw region, yesterday. On 26 July, a junta drone strike on Kyankhin village, east of Thikone village in Saw Township, killed two people, including a three-year-old child, and injured another. The junta has been carrying out ground offensives, drone strikes, airstrikes, and civilian arrests across the Yaw and Saw areas. Local news outlets have urged residents to remain vigilant regarding junta troop movements and prioritize safety. The junta is pushing into Magway Region’s Saw and Yaw areas, bordering Chin State, in an attempt to reclaim towns lost in Chin State. Junta forces began reinforcing troops in the area in May, with fighting intensifying and displacing local residents as offensives expanded in the following months. The Yaw Army has urged the public to support Yaw resistance fighters in their struggle against the military dictatorship.
