GENEVA, July 3, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to equality, non-discrimination and respect for diversity during a United Nations Human Rights Council session in Geneva. Speaking on July 2, Chhuon Pagna, Second Secretary at Cambodia’s Permanent Mission, delivered the country’s statement during an interactive dialogue with the UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance. She said Cambodia’s approach is guided by its constitution and international obligations, stressing the role of education, dialogue and sport in promoting inclusion and social cohesion. Pagna highlighted Cambodia’s hosting of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games as examples of efforts to strengthen unity and foster understanding among diverse communities. Such events, she said, reflected the country’s broader commitment to inclusivity and national solidarity. Cambodia remains ready to work closely with the international community to advance shared values of equality and respect, she added, citing social harmony, national unity, religious coexistence and cultural diversity as key foundations of its human rights and development agenda.
