On July 11, Da Nang city police announced the detention of Vo Anh Kiet and Tran Quoc Dung (both 17 years old) for disturbing public order, while Tran Xuan Quang (16 years old) was released on bail. According to investigations, around 8 PM on July 3, two groups of teenagers on motorcycles met on National Highway 1A, near Vinh Duc General Hospital, and got into a conflict. During the chase, one group picked up glass bottle shards to throw at the other. The opposing group went to a football field and retrieved a wooden stick about 2 meters long to retaliate. While crossing the Quang Hau bridge, one individual threw the stick onto the road to obstruct their opponents, but it was unsuccessful. After losing sight of their rivals, the group went to Vo Anh Kiet's house to recruit more members for revenge, preparing pepper spray and numerous glass bottles. Conversely, the other group also called Tran Xuan Quang, bringing a 54cm homemade knife and many glass bottles to confront them. Around 8:15 PM the same day, the two groups clashed on DT607 road. The members operated their motorcycles at speeds of about 70 km/h, continuously swerving and throwing glass bottles at each other on the road, endangering other traffic participants. In front of a house on Tran Thu Do street, Vo Anh Kiet accelerated and approached the opponent's vehicle, allowing a passenger to spray pepper spray at the driver. This caused the motorcycle to lose control, veer off the road, and crash, with all three occupants falling. As a result, three minors sustained severe injuries. One suffered a traumatic brain injury and multiple head traumas; another fractured their femur, damaged their kneecap, and broke an arm; the third broke a finger and sustained deep lacerations on their hand and knee.
