Large Fire Erupts at Hanoi Beer Garden, Cause Under Investigation

A major fire erupted at a beer garden located on Tan Trieu new street in Hanoi on the evening of July 25th, accompanied by loud explosions and towering columns of smoke. The blaze began around 6 PM, originating from a roughly 300-square-meter beer garden constructed with corrugated iron walls and roofing. At the time of the incident, the establishment was open for business, and patrons quickly evacuated upon hearing shouts of alarm. As the flames intensified, residents reported hearing multiple popping sounds from within the premises. "The fire spread very quickly," said Mr. N.H., who lives nearby. "I heard many popping sounds inside, possibly from glass beer bottles. In just a short time, thick smoke billowed up." Many local residents also observed smoke rising tens of meters high, visible from several blocks away. Firefighting units responded promptly to the scene. However, the rapid spread of the fire led to it engulfing a temporary workshop located adjacent to the beer garden. The affected area primarily consisted of temporary structures built with iron frames and corrugated iron. Firefighting forces deployed seven fire engines and dozens of officers and soldiers. They also mobilized two excavators to assist in breaking through the corrugated iron roofing, allowing water hoses to reach the heart of the fire more effectively. By 8:30 PM the same day, the fire was extinguished. The beer garden and the row of workshops collapsed. Given the fire's extensive area, estimated to be thousands of square meters, and the presence of numerous machinery and equipment inside, the risk of reignition remained high.
