Lanao del Sur District Representatives Proclaimed in BARMM Polls

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday officially proclaimed the winning parliamentary district representatives in Lanao del Sur within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The winning candidates for the districts in Lanao del Sur are as follows: Six of the victorious district representatives hailed from the Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo Party (SIAP Party), while the remaining winners came from the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP). The BARMM held its inaugural parliamentary elections on Monday, September 14, with a total of 2.393 million registered voters. As of 5:59 p.m. on Tuesday, the voter turnout for the BARMM elections reached an impressive 98.64%. Commission on Elections Chairman George Erwin Garcia had previously highlighted the strong resolve of voters in the region to cast their ballots, noting that the turnout had already hit 80% at that point. This electoral outcome signifies the prevailing political forces within BARMM, with the SIAP Party demonstrating a considerable advantage. As BARMM enters a new phase of its development and autonomy in the southern Philippines, these representatives are tasked with voicing the aspirations of their constituents in the national political arena.
