Poipet City Authorities Evacuate 285 Families Amid Rising Floodwaters

In Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia, the flood situation caused by heavy rainfall continues to escalate. In response, the Poipet City authorities have implemented emergency measures, mobilizing law enforcement and specialized teams to assist in evacuating residents from affected areas to temporary safe havens. According to preliminary reports from Mr. Keat Hul, Governor of Poipet City, as of 11:00 AM on September 25, 2026, a total of 285 families impacted by the floodwaters have been assisted by authorities and security forces in relocating to temporary safe grounds. Among those evacuated, 155 families are from O'Chrou Commune, with 125 families housed at Baliley Pagoda and 30 families at Prohm Nimith School. In Phsar Kandal Commune, a total of 130 families have been evacuated to various safe locations, with the Samnang Lot Site accommodating 20 families and the Te Chang Lot Site receiving 110 families. These evacuations are proactive measures by the local authorities to mitigate potential risks as water levels fluctuate and threaten residential areas.
