Experts point to the possibility that specific groups, driven by political and ideological intentions, may be attempting to prevent the remembrance of these leaders' achievements and ideas. Gus Dur was the 4th President of Indonesia, known for advocating for the rights of Muslims and promoting a tolerant interpretation of Islam. Kiai Idham Chalid, on the other hand, held significant influence in the Islamic community for many years, notably serving as the first chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). This resistance to publicly invoking their names may indicate tensions between groups with differing interpretations of Islam and varying political influences within Indonesian society.
