Phnom Penh police have officially confirmed that a traffic accident in Doun Penh district on August 31, which resulted in severe injuries and subsequent death of a young woman at the hospital, was a solo motorcycle fall and not a case of robbery or involvement of any third party. Lieutenant General Chuon Narinth, Deputy Commissioner General of National Police and Commissioner of Phnom Penh Municipal Police, stated on September 1 that thorough investigations by specialized authorities, based on evidence and witness testimonies at the scene, have confirmed that the young woman fell from her motorcycle by herself. The incident occurred on August 31 on Preah Norodom Boulevard, near the Preah Norodom Primary School, in Doun Penh district. After falling from her motorcycle, the young woman sustained severe injuries and was assisted by a man who witnessed the accident. He called a tuk-tuk to take her to Andou Hospital, before she was transferred to Calmette Hospital. However, the young woman died upon arrival at Calmette Hospital. Authorities confirmed that the man who helped the victim also took her motorcycle to Andou Hospital. Therefore, the victim's motorcycle was not stolen, and police have confirmed that this was an independent traffic accident. All rights reserved by CEN.
