Nghe An Province to Hire Over 2,000 Contract Teachers

The Nghe An Department of Education and Training in central Vietnam has decided to hire a total of 2,253 contract teachers for public educational institutions in the province over the years 2026 and 2027. This measure aims to ensure the teacher-to-student ratio in each grade level, targeting 2.03 teachers per class in kindergartens, 1.5 teachers per class in primary schools, and 1.8 teachers per class in lower secondary schools. Recruited teachers must meet the standards for Teacher Grade III as stipulated for each grade level, with evaluations based on academic qualifications, professional knowledge, and practical skills. Priority consideration will be given to individuals already contracted with district People's Committees, as well as those contracted by SOS Vietnam and assigned to Tran Quoc Hoan High School and Hoa Sen Kindergarten. Each school is required to identify job positions and subject areas with teacher shortages based on their allocated quota and actual situation before proceeding with contract teacher recruitment. The hiring process will involve six steps: public announcement, establishment of a contract review committee, contract review, public announcement of results, contract signing, and reporting obligations. In cases where the number of applications exceeds the number of available positions, the contract review committee will develop specific criteria for selection. The duration of temporary contracts, according to regulations, will be a maximum of 9 months, ending at the end of the academic year. For indefinite contracts or contracts previously signed by district People's Committees and SOS Vietnam, the contract period will be set at a maximum of 12 months. This recruitment initiative is part of Vietnam's efforts to maintain and improve the quality of education, particularly addressing the growing teacher shortage in rural and densely populated areas.
