Cambodia Breaks Ground for Veteran and Retiree Association Headquarters
A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new headquarters of the Cambodian Veteran and Retiree Association in Kampong Speu province. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new headquarters of the Cambodian Veteran and Retiree Association took place in Kampong Speu province on July 15, 2026. The ceremony was co-chaired by His Excellency Dr. Cham Chanthyphorn, Governor of Kampong Speu Province and President of the provincial branch of the association, and His Excellency Kun Kim, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, Vice President, and Secretary-General of the association. The event was attended by approximately 200 participants, including a delegation from the association's central committee, the provincial council chairman, representatives from the three armed forces, directors of provincial departments and units, authorities, armed forces, and veteran and retired military personnel. During the occasion, His Excellency Kun Kim conveyed the regards of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Cambodian Veteran and Retiree Association, and Samdech Kittipol Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross. He emphasized that the Prime Minister and his wife consistently follow up on the welfare of veterans and retirees and address their difficulties. The new headquarters building is a generous donation from Samdech Mahabovaradhipati Hun Manet, Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Cambodian Veteran and Retiree Association, with construction undertaken by Mr. Nou Sitha. His Excellency Kun Kim stated that the construction of the association's headquarters aims to facilitate and provide services, as well as resolve challenges for the benefit of veterans and retirees in a timely manner. The headquarters will serve as a central point for association officials to implement and deliver services addressing the needs and challenges of every veteran and retiree. He further urged the members of the association's committee to review the actual situation of each member after the headquarters is completed and to submit proposals and reports to the leadership. His Excellency also instructed the leadership of the Kampong Speu provincial committee to update information on veterans and retirees facing poverty who have requested housing and land plots, and to prepare proposals for the central committee of the association for review and decision.
