Battambang Train Derails, Residents Scramble for Spilled Fuel

A cargo train traveling from Phnom Penh to Banteay Meanchey derailed in Battambang province on September 19th, around noon. Four diesel fuel tanks overturned, spilling a large amount of fuel onto the ground. The incident occurred near Andong Chhng village in Ocha commune. The train was on its route when, for reasons yet to be determined, several of its carriages derailed. The four overturned tanks released a significant volume of diesel, covering the earth. Dozens of villagers, witnessing the spill, rushed to the scene with containers, attempting to collect the leaked fuel. Authorities and police quickly intervened, blocking the villagers' efforts to collect the fuel. This measure was taken to prevent potential accidents.
