Embassy of Myanmar warns of forged notarized documents

The Embassy of Myanmar in Tokyo has issued a warning after discovering forged documents bearing the signatures and seals of officials, which were submitted through intermediaries in Japan for re-authentication applications by Myanmar nationals residing in Japan. It is stated that when notarized translations of documents required for studying, working, or conducting business in Japan are submitted, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Consular and Legal Affairs Department, Notary Division, will only re-authenticate documents that have received the endorsement of notary public attorneys recognized by the Supreme Court of the Union. Therefore, those wishing to apply for re-authentication of notarized documents are warned not to proceed through intermediaries in Japan to prevent unnecessary disadvantages and to protect themselves from forged documents. Furthermore, it has been announced that the Embassy of Myanmar in Tokyo will only re-authenticate notarized documents that are genuine and reliable, have been authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Naypyidaw and Yangon after being delegated by family members in Myanmar, and that only notarized documents with a validity period of six months will be processed.
