Teng Hui (Myanmar) links workers to other factories

The Ministry of Labour has announced that Teng Hui (Myanmar) Knitting Co., Ltd (Woolen Factory), which is scheduled for temporary closure, is facilitating connections with other factories that require workers to prevent its employees from becoming unemployed and losing their rights under labour laws. Teng Hui (Myanmar) Knitting Co., Ltd Woolen Factory, located in Thantabin Township, Yangon Region, which employs 2,610 workers, will be temporarily closed due to a decrease in orders, it is reported. U Khin Maung Soe, Union Minister for Labour, stated that assistance and coordination have been provided for 2,355 workers from the factory who wish to transfer to other factories where workers are needed. During a meeting with factory officials and workers on the morning of September 12, the Union Minister made these remarks. It is also reported that during the discussions, employers and employees were urged to have mutual trust and understanding, and to respect and comply with existing labour laws. Teng Hui Myanmar Woolen Factory is scheduled to be temporarily closed at the end of September, and it is reported that the factory is one of the factories that manufactures and exports products for the globally renowned H&M brand.
