Cambodia to Host Francophonie Village as Summit Side Event

PHNOM PENH, Sept 22, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia will host a five‑day “Village de la Francophonie” in Phnom Penh from November 13–17 as part of the programme surrounding the 20th Francophonie Summit, officials said Monday. The event will take place at Wat Botum Vatey Park and is being organised by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and other institutions. The Village will feature five main components: national pavilions of member states of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF); daily cultural and artistic performances; conferences and seminars; a general exhibition area; and a Francophone Gastronomy Village. The exhibition area will host about 100 booths for public institutions, private companies, national and international organisations, development partners and other stakeholders to showcase achievements, products and services. The cultural programme will be coordinated by the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts with participation from OIF member states. Conferences and seminars will bring together ministries, institutions and organisations for exchanges, while the Gastronomy Village will highlight Khmer cuisine alongside culinary specialties from across the Francophone world. The Ministry of Tourism has invited ministries, associations, the private sector, media and other stakeholders to take part, particularly through exhibition booths and activities. Applications are open until October 9. Officials said the Francophonie Village will serve as a major public‑facing side event to the summit, scheduled for November 15–16, and will showcase Cambodia’s hospitality, cultural identity and role within the Francophone community.
