A vehicle collided with other vehicles one after another at the Seik Gyi roundabout in Seik Gyi Ward, Mawlamyine city, according to local residents. Around 7 PM on September 9, a white CHEVROLET MALIBU with license plate (BGO – 11) 7R/9958, driven by Soe Ze Ya Aung, was traveling from the Myan Thayar Ward intersection towards the Seik Gyi roundabout in Mawlamyine city. The vehicle crashed into a HONDA FIT with license plate (MON – 4) 6K/----, which was parked on the roadside in front of the "La Yaung Win" store near the Seik Gyi roundabout. The CHEVROLET MALIBU then sped away and further collided with a white BZ4X EV with license plate (NPW – 7) 1T/---, which was traveling from the Seik Gyi roundabout towards the Pha Kin road on the opposite lane. An eyewitness stated that the CHEVROLET MALIBU was speeding from the Myan Thayar intersection towards the Seik Gyi roundabout, made a U-turn into the opposite lane, and then returned towards the Myan Thayar intersection. It then made another U-turn in front of the "Taung Gyi Monastery" and crashed into the HONDA FIT in front of the "La Yaung Win" store. The eyewitness further said, "Then the car sped away again and hit the BZ4X EV that was driving in the opposite lane. After the collisions, the driver of the CHEVROLET MALIBU tried to escape, so the vehicle owners and nearby residents surrounded and apprehended him. The driver appeared to have used drugs. He was also circling the Seik Gyi roundabout, so we had to chase him down." At the time of the incident, the Seik Gyi roundabout was busy with cars and motorcycles, causing panic among many people, and traffic was blocked for about half an hour, the local resident also said. As a result of the incident, the HONDA FIT sustained damage to its left front and rear doors, and the BZ4X EV also had its left door dented and damaged, with its airbags deployed. The CHEVROLET MALIBU also had its front bumper damaged and its airbags deployed, but there were no human casualties, according to eyewitness accounts. Regarding this incident, Soe Ze Ya Aung, 33 years old, residing in Myan Thayar Extension Ward, Mawlamyine city, who intentionally drove the vehicle in a manner that endangered the lives of others on public roads, intersections, and junctions, has been charged at the Mawlamyine Myoma Police Station under sections 279/307 of the Penal Code, with case number (Pa) 4/2026.
