The perpetrator was arrested by a joint team from the Bali Regional Police's Directorate of General Criminal Investigation, Denpasar Resort Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, and South Denpasar Police's Criminal Investigation Unit after an investigation identified the suspect's characteristics. "So, approximately three hours later, the perpetrator was secured. The victim was a woman from Tegal, Central Java," he added. The victim was the perpetrator's girlfriend. They met at DP's workplace, a billiard hall on Jalan Pura Demak, West Denpasar District. DP admitted that the perpetrator had invited her to stay at the boarding house room on Saturday, July 11, 2026, around 11:00 PM WITA. At that time, she smelled an unpleasant odor from inside the room but did not know its source. A few days later, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, DP asked the perpetrator about the smell. However, the perpetrator became angry, hit the wall, and said, "Why are you asking?" According to the boarding house manager, identified as MA, the victim AS had been living at the location since March 2025 with the perpetrator. When found, the victim's body was lying supine on the room floor, covered by stuffed dolls and a neatly folded carpet. The body showed signs of swelling and decomposition, emitting a strong odor, with the epidermis peeling off. Police stated that no open wounds were found due to the advanced state of decomposition.
