38th anniversary of 8888 uprising commemorated in Jiufen, Taiwan

August 8 Mizzima. The "8888 Revolutionary Generation Uprising" ceremony, commemorating the 38th anniversary of the 8888 uprising, was held today (August 8) in Jiufen, a district in New Taipei City, Taiwan, where a large number of Myanmar people reside. The ceremony was held from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM Taiwan time, with approximately 30 attendees, including Myanmar-born residents in Taiwan, young people, and one representative from a Taiwanese human rights organization. During the ceremony, three individuals who directly participated in the 8888 uprising shared their real-life experiences. Additionally, a one-minute silence was observed to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the uprising, and young people recited revolutionary poems. Attendees and the representative from the Taiwanese human rights organization listened to messages of prayer and well wishes for the people of Myanmar.
